Political parties should listen to the voice of professionals as their ideas could contribute in nation building. They can also play a key role in development of the country”, said National President of Professional Congress Shashi Tharoor.

Addressing a seminar here , Tharoor said that in a bid to take the ideas of the professionals such as advocates, engineers, IT professionals and businessmen, Congress party has floated Professional Congress recently.

The persons who are not from the political background could also join us and we will give them due importance, he said.

Earlier such professionals believed that political parties do not listen to them; but now we will change this conception and give them proper importance, he said.

The Congress party established the Professional Congress only six months back and 45 chapters in 20 states have been formed, Tharoor informed.

Chhattisgarh In-charge of All India Congress Committee, P.L. Punia, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President, Bhupesh Baghel, and Leader of Opposition T.S. Singhdeo also addressed the gathering and stressed on joining of politics by the intellectuals in the society.

Tharoor later while talking to reporters refuted the charges of BJP about stalling the proceedings of parliament. “We all were on our respective seats and the incident was a government sponsored disturbance”, he said.
