On Sunday, in Pakistani shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Bhimer Gali sector of Rajouri district, an army captain and three jawans were killed. As per the Indian Express army sources, the Pakistani soldiers used weapons of high calibre during the attack. The high calibre weapons mean either anti-tank missiles or artillery guns as small arms cannot lead to such high casualties, the source added.
An Army spokesperson said,“The martyrdom of Indian Army soldiers will not go in vain, and the Pakistani Army will be given a befitting response.”
Ceasefire violations are at an all-time high this year. According to sources, there have been over 160 ceasefire violations along the LoC since the beginning of the year. There were 860 ceasefire violations along the LoC last year, including 147 in December. There were 271 ceasefire violations in 2016, a climbdown from 387 violations in 2015.
