Strengthening of Rock Groynes

Will the  Minister  of  FISHERIES,  ANIMAL  HUSBANDRY  AND  DAIRYING  ??????????,

????????? ???????????be pleased to state:

 

  • whether the Minister is aware that on 29th June, 2015 a Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping (Minor Ports Section) had forwarded a representation to the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries on the need to strengthen the rock groynes in Poonthura, Thiruvananthapuram;

 

  • if so, whether the Ministry has taken specific steps to remedy this aforesaid issue;

 

  • if so, the details thereof; and

 

  • if not, the reasons therefor?

  • to (d) : The Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Shipping had on 29th June, 2015 forwarded a representation regarding strengthening of rock groynes at Poonthura. The Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) on Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries implemented by the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying provides financial assistance to the Coastal States Government/Union Territories for establishment of fishing harbour and fish landing centres including modernization of the existing ones and not for construction of Groynes. Accordingly, the Ministry of Shipping were informed in July, 2015 that construction and strengthening of groynes is not covered under the CSS, and the Government of Kerala was also informed.
