Samagra Shiksha Scheme

Will the Minister of HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

whether the Government is aware that under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, Rs. 164 crore has been sanctioned for self-defence training to schools and if so, the details thereof;

the number of schools in each State that have been sanctioned money under this scheme for self-defence with the amount that has been sanctioned since 2014, year/ State-wise;

the number of schools that have utilised more than 60 per cent of such funds allotted to them since 2014, year/ State-wise; and

the details of utilisation of funds by States since 2014, year-wise and State-wise?

(a):- Yes, Madam. Under the newly launched Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Samagra Shiksha Rs.164.49 crore has been approved during the year 2018-19 for Self Defence training for girls in schools. Out of this amount, Rs. 102.22 crore has been approved for 1,34,835 elementary schools and Rs. 62.27 crore for 76,581 secondary schools under Self Defence training.

The State-wise details of upper primary, secondary and senior secondary schools approved for Self Defence training during the year 2018-19 is at Annexure-I.

to (d):- Statement on the number of schools approved, fund sanctioned and expenditure incurred for Self Defence training under Samgara Shiksha from the year 2014-15 onwards is at Annexure-II.
