ANSWER

Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION

(Shri Jayant Sinha)

(a) to (e): At present, arrival and departure in Trivandrum International Airport are from the same level. During peak hours in the morning, some difficulties are faced in arrival area due to limited (14 number) immigration counters. Further, at present in Terminal-11 (International Terminal), 39 check-in counters, 2 self-check-in kiosks, 4 conveyor belts and 3 aerobridges are available. There are 2 aerobridges in Terminal-I (Domestic Terminal). Airports Authority of India (AAI) has taken up work for installation of one more aerobridge at the International Terminal. To augment additional capacity of the airport, AAI has projected a land requirement of 18 acres to the State Government of Kerala. (Besides, AAI has taken action for construction of a part of new terminal building next to existing Terminal-II within AAI land along-with the provisions of additional 32 check-in counters and 4 more conveyor belts). AAI has also initiated action to increase immigration counters upto 18 nos. by rearranging the Arrival area and has taken up the matter of manpower requirement with Customs Authorities.
