Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government/State Government of Kerala has identified four locations in the State suitable for the development of an AIIMS;
(b) if so, the timeframe by which the sites shall be finalised/project approved for setting up of AIIMS in the State; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor? |

ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI FAGGAN SINGH KULASTE)
(a): Government of Kerala identified following four locations for setting up AIIMS in Kerala: i. Thiruvananthapuram district- Kattakada taluk, Kallikadu village, Block 31, Resurvey 66.
ii. Kottayam district- Arpookkara, Athirampuzha and Peraicakadu villages.
iii. Ernakulam district- Block No.5, 717/5, Block No.6, 321/1.
iv. Kozhikode district- Kinalur and Kanthalad villages in Panangad Grama Panchayath, Thamarassery taluk.
(b) & (c): Hon’ble Finance Minister, while presenting the Budget for the year 2014-15, had announced setting up of four new AIIMS in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Purvanchal in UP, and in the Budget 2015-16, has proposed to set up six new AIIMS in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Assam and Bihar. AIIMS in Gujarat and Jharkhand have been announced in Budget of 2017-18. AIIMS in Kerala has not been included in any of budget announcements. |
