Sports Quota in Railways

Will the Minister of



 RAILWAYS be pleased to state:-
(a) whether the Southern Railways has not recruited a single sportsperson through its sports quota since 2014, despite having conducted tests and interviews;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Minister is aware of the allegations that outsiders, unrelated to the Southern Railways Sports Association, were brought in to do paperwork during the recruitment process;

(d) if so, whether the Railways has ordered any inquiry in this regard; and 

(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): Due to austerity measures, sports recruitment for the year 2015-16 could not be finalized in Southern Railway. For the years 2016-17 & 2017-18, the recruitment process was initiated but could not be completed. However, 5 candidates were appointed against Railway Sports Promotion Board quota in the year 2014-15.

(c): No, Madam.

(d) & (e): Do not arise.

 

 

 

Relevance 

 

The Ministry of Railways has not recruited  not recruited a single sportsperson through its sports quota in the Southern Railways since 2016. Even-though there are reports of malpractices in the recruitment process in the media, the Minister seems to be unaware of it
