OUTSTANDING DUES

 

 

  1. DR. SHASHI THAROOR:

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:

  • whether the Railways owes high outstanding dues to Zonal Railways as highlighted by the Standing Committee on Railways in its Sixteenth Report;

 

  • if so, the details thereof;

 

  • whether the Railways is aware that dues have risen between 2015-16 and 2016-17 and if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

 

  • whether the Railways believes that it is necessary to pursue State Electricity Boards and Power Houses that have crossed the highest amount of dues; and

 

  • if so, the strategy devised by the Railways to improve this condition?

(a) & (b): No, Madam.

 

(c): The position of outstanding dues from non railways entities for the period ending 2016 and 2017 is as under:-

Raising and realization of Bills for recoverable dues is a continuous process on the Zonal railways and all efforts are made to expedite recovery.

(d): Railways are regularly pursuing the State Electricity Boards/Power Houses for realization of outstanding. The Position of outstanding dues of State Electricity Boards/Power Houses has progressively declined, as can be seen

 

from the table as below:-

(e): To reduce outstanding dues of power Houses/State Electricity Boards, Zonal Railways hold regular meetings with the power Houses/SEBs having heavy arrears outstanding and impress upon them the need to make timely payments of both current as well as old outstanding.
