RAIN WATER HARVESTING AT AIRPORTS

Will the Minister of



CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:-




(a) whether the Government is aware that there is a lot of potential for harvesting rain water overflow from runways at various airports across the country which could be used to augment water supply for various purposes at the airports; 

(b) if so, whether the Government is considering to make it mandatory for all airports in the country to set such waterharvesting techniques; and 

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION ( SHRI PRAFUL PATEL ) 

(a) Yes, Madam. 

(b)&(c) Airports Authority of India (AAI)has implemented rain water harvesting at Jaipur, Madurai, Mangalore, Trichy, Gondia, Lucknow, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Varanasi airports. Provision has also been made for harvesting rain water overflow from runways at Chennai, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose international (NSCBI)airports and Jalgaon airports. Gradually, rain water harvesting is being implemented at other airports.
