MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (SMT. SMRITI ZUBIN IRANI)
(a)&(b) The Government of India assists State Government and UTs to universalize access to elementary and secondary education through the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) programme respectively, by inter alia opening new schools and strengthening existing ones in close proximity to habitations as per prescribed distance norms. Under these schemes States/UTs are also supported to provide additional teachers and necessary teaching learning equipments for schools.
(c)&(d) Under the scheme of Navodaya Vidyalayas, one Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) is opened in each district, as a result JNVs have been sanctioned so far in 576 districts of the country. Opening of new JNVs is a continuous process which depends upon approval by competent authority, availability of funds and willingness of the State Government to provide suitable land for construction of the JNV school buildings. |
