(a) the number of cases registered under the Sedition Act against individuals who have supported cricket teams post match;
(b) the action taken against the individuals;
(c) the manner in which the Government determined that the support of sports team, constitutes anti-national sentiments or seditious acts;
(d) the manner in which such individuals were arrested, given that they did not act in a violent manner as reported in the media; and
(e) the time taken in the investigation process before such arrests were made? |

(a) to (e) The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has intimated that the information on cases registered under the Sedition (Section 124 A of IPC) against individuals who have supported cricket teams post match is not specifically maintained by them. However, the State-wise data of cases registered under sedition (Section 124A of IPC) of the year 2016 is placed at annexure. |
