SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP be pleased to state:-


(a) whether the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has collaborated with public and private universities, to skill and train workers in the unorganised sector; 

(b) if so, the details thereof; 

(c) whether the Government would also consider collaborating with reputed institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Science (IIS) and the National Institute of Technology (NIT), to conduct skill development workshops and train workers in the unorganised sector such as electricians, mechanics, nurses, paramedics, etc.; 

(d) if so, the details thereof; and 

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?


ANSWER
(a) National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has collaborated with a number of Public and Private Universities to skill the students of the colleges who are undergoing Under Graduate (UG)/Post Graduate (PG) programs. However, at present, NSDC does not have any program under University association to skill and train workers in the unorganized sector. 

(b) For the UG and PG students skill development program, NSDC has signed MoU with University of Pune, University of Delhi, Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Tamil Nadu open University, Manipal University (Jaipur), Gautam Buddha University, Dept of Collegiate Education (Govt of Karnataka), Centurion University, IILM Institute, Vel Tech University, Panjab University (CDG), Panjab University (Patiala), Guru Nanak Dev University, Lovely Professional University, Sh Guru Granth Sahib World University, Guru Kashi University, Chitkara University, Adesh University, Desh Bhagat University, DAV University (Jalandar), Chandigarh University, GNA University, Rayat & Bahra University, Baba Bhag Singh University, Amity University (Gurgaon), Sharda University, Sikkim Manipal University, Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University, Guwahati University, Dibrugarh University, Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University.

(c) At present, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has not entered any engagement with Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), Indian Institutes of Science or National Institutes of Technology (NITs) for skill training in unorganized sectors.

(d) & (e) Do not arise.
