be pleased to state:-
|
(a) the total number of post offices in the country that provide Core Banking Solutions (CBS) and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) facilities, State-wise and the number of customers made through it and business obtained therefrom;
(b) whether the Government proposes to introduce other banking services in the post offices for the benefit of account holders, and if so, the details thereof;
(c) the total number of post offices in rural areas and the proportion of such post offices that have internet kiosks to facilitate net banking, anytime anywhere banking facilities, etc.;
(d) whether the Government has introduced measures to impart awareness of such facilities and their benefits in rural areas, including instructions to use them; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and the time by which formal banking service is likely to be started in all the post offices of the country which is likely to generate new employment opportunities? |

(a) The total number of post offices that now provide Core Banking Solution (CBS) are 961 in the country. As of now the ATM facility is available in 4 post offices. The State-wise detail of these offices is as under:

The rollout of CBS is in progress. In Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, it was rolled out on 24.11.2014
(b) The Reserve Bank of India has announced its guidelines for Licensing of Small Finance Banks very recently, vide their press release dated 27-11-2014. The Government will take a decision on whether DoP should set up a Bank based on an examination of the said guidelines. If and when the Post Bank of India is setup, it will lead to other banking services being introduced in Post Offices for the benefit of account holders.
c) Total number of Post Offices in rural areas is 1,39,182 and no Internet kiosks have been provided to facilitate net banking/anytime anywhere banking facilities to post offices in rural areas.
