be pleased to state:-

(a) whether the Railways are considering to create a statutory Railway Safety Authority to oversee the safety measures in the operations of railways;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Railways have implemented any of the recommendations of the High Level Safety Review Committee on maintenance of safety related infrastructure; and
(d) if so, the details thereof including the amount spent on improvement of safety standards in railways during the last three years and the current year? |

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI MANOJ SINHA)
(a) to (d) The High Level Safety Review Committee (Kakodkar Committee) has recommended that a Railway Safety Authority should be set up as a statutory body independent of Railway Board under the Government.
The recommendations of the Committee are presently under examination in the Ministry of Railways. |
