YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:-




(a) the number of youth exchange programmes conducted under the International Youth Exchange Programme (IYEP) being run by the Government and the funds allocated/ utilized for the purpose during each of the last three years and the current year; 

(b) the number of Indian youths sent to other countries and number of youth who came India under the IYEP during the said period; 

(c) Whether the Government has decided to introduce Youth festivals and youth exchange programmes with BRICS nations; 

(d) If so, the details and the purpose thereof; 

(e) Whether the Government proposed to introduce any programmes to involve the youth as decision makers; and 

(f) If so, the details thereof and the alternative scheme being formulated to integrate youth in the mainstream and know how of customs and cultural heritage of other States?

THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS (SHRI SARBANANDA SONOWAL) 

(a) & (b) The details of Youth Exchange programmes conducted under the International Youth Exchange Programme by Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for the last three years and current year are given below:

(c) & (d) Youth Exchange programme between India and China has been continuing since 2006. There is no decision for Youth Festival and Youth Exchange programme with other BRICS Nations. 

(e) & (f) The Government has launched the National Youth Policy 2014 which provides a framework for action by all stakeholders. This Policy seeks to achieve :

# A productive workforce through education, skill development for better employability, and entrepreneurship training.
# A healthy generation with sports as a way of life.
# A sense of community service and strong social values.
# High levels of participation in governance.
# Social inclusiveness by creating equitable opportunities for all.

The above shall enable the youth to be more and more involved as decision makers in various fields.
Various programmes are already being imple- mented by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India for integrating Youth in the mainstream and to provide knowhow of customs and cultural heritage of other States like the Tribal Youth Exchange programme, National Integration Camps, National Youth Festival, Inter-State Youth Exchange programmes, State Youth Festivals, NSS (National Service Scheme) mega camps, NSS Republic Day Parade Camp and North East NSS Festivals etc.
