(a) the number and details of cities covered under the solar cities/green cities programme so far;
(b) the status of implementation of the programme in those cities;
(c) the funds allocated and released under this programme so far;
(d) whether the Government has earmarked any funds for Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, under the solar city project, if so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether the Government is likely to release the first installment of the allocated funds in the near future, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? |

(a): The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has sanctioned projects for 50 cities under the Develop- ment of Solar Cities Programme so far. State-wise details of solar cities are given at Annexure.
(b): Master plans of 44 cities have been prepared, Stake-holder’s Committees have been constituted in all 50 cities. Solar City Cells have been created in 26 solar cities. Solar PV projects with aggregate capacity of 8.16 MWp and Solar Water Heating Systems with aggregate capacity of 7895 meter square collector area have been sanctioned to 12 solar cities.
(c): A total amount of Rs. 66.50 crore has been sanctioned for master plans, solar city cells, pro- motional activities and installation of renewable energy projects. Against this an amount of Rs.22.85 crore has been released so far.
(d)&(e): In-principle approval of Rs. 50 lakh has been given for Thiruvananthapuram Solar City in Kerala. As far as release of first installment of funds is concerned, no proposal has been received so far from the implementing agency, viz. Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT), Thiruvananthapuram. |
