Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government proposes to establish a burn unit in various States including Kerala under National Programme for Prevention and Management on Burn Injuries (NPPMBI);
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has allocated/ released funds for it;
(d) if so, the details thereof along with its stages of utilisation; and
(e) whether the Government proposes to allocate funds for the establishment of a Counselling Centre in the burn unit to provide post-injury-trauma care to the victims of burn accidents, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

ANSWER THE MINISTER OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI JAGAT PRAKASH NADDA) (a) to (e): Yes. Government have approved implementation of National Programme for Prevention and Management of Burn Injuries (NPPMBI) during the 12th five year plan in various States/UTs including Kerala with the objective to reduce incidence, mortality, morbidity and disability due to burn injuries So far 30 Medical Colleges and 13 District Hospitals have been approved in various States under the Programme. The details of funds released under this Programme are enclosed at Annexure. There is provision of establishment of rehabilitation room in the burn unit. In addition, there is also a provision under the Programmefor providing funds for procurement of some equipment, physiotherapists/Community Based Rehabilitation workers for the duration of three years for rehabilitation of burn victims. |
