Regarding urgent budgetary and administrative support for Trivandrum Central Station
11/August/2016

Trivandrum Central (TVC), the largest and busiest station in the State of Kerala, is in need of urgent budgetary and administrative support to complete ongoing development works.  The government has been effective and supportive in this effort, now we seek the completion of vital upgrades to ensure that TVC remains for generations to come.

Given the inclusion of TVC in the list of “world-class stations”, published by the Ministry coupled with the vital capital requirement, I urge the Minister to consider the inclusion of TVC in the shortlist for the PPP model of development using Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

In addition, there is a proposal to shift the Coach Care Centre and non-operating lines at Trivandrum Central Railway Station (TVC), to satellite Kochuveli and Nemom Stations and replace them with at least 5 new platforms at TVC.  This would require the upgradation of Kochuveli and Nemom stations to enable them to function as extensions of TVC.  Further, the stations may be renamed as Thiruvananthapuram South and Thiruvananthapuram North respectively.

I, therefore, urge the Minister to consider the proposals and see to the completion of the work already in progress.
