It’s not just idols who inspire but peers too — ask author-turned politician Shashi Tharoor. 

When asked to choose a trilogy that has been able to sustain itself, the MP from Kerala chose Amitav Ghosh’s Ibis trilogy. “I think Amitav Ghosh’s Ibis trilogy gave me particular pleasure. The combination of historical sweep, narrative force and memorable characters was well sustained over three volumes,” Tharoor told ETPanache. 

And that’s saying something since Tharoor himself has trilogy to his credit.
