Crude Oil Agreement with Iran

Will the Minister of



PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state:-


(a) the details of the crude oil agreements with Iran along with the existing funding pattern;
(b) the details of implementation of current pipelines/trade routes to boost crude imports from Iran; and
(c) whether the Government is working with other nations to build region specific pipelines for supply of crude oil to India and if so, the details thereof?


ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF PETROLEUM & NATURAL GAS (SHRI DHARMENDRA PRADHAN)
(a): The Oil Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have entered into term contract (in both firm and optional volumes) with National Iran Oil Company for supply of 14.50 MMT of crude oil (12.0 MMT as firm and 2.5 MMT as optional) during 2016-17. The Oil PSUs bear the expenses of crude oil.
(b) & (c): Presently, there is no such proposal for construction of pipeline to import crude oil from Iran or any other country in the region.
