SETTING UP OF LAUNDRY FACILITIES

Will the Minister of



 RAILWAYS be pleased to state:-


(a) the present status of work for setting up of laundry facilities at various locations in the country, location-wise including Thiruvananthapuram; 

(b) the details of cost estimated to be incurred thereon, location-wise; 

(c) the time by which these plants are likely to be made operational, location-wise; and

(d) the steps taken/being taken by the Railways in this regard?


ANSWER


MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI MANOJ SINHA) 

(a) Presently, a total of 30 laundries have been set up at various locations across Indian Railways. 

Mechanised laundry at Kochuveli, Thiruvananthapuram is on Build, Own, and Operate & Transfer (BOOT) model. Contract has been finalized and Letter of Acceptance has been issued to the firm. 

(b) The cost incurred on setting up of these 30 laundries is Rs.32 crores (approx.) 

(c) & (d) These laundries are already operational at all locations. Construction work for mechanised laundry at Thiruvananthapuram has commenced and the same is planned to be operational in the current year (2014-15).
