SHIPPING be pleased to state:-




(a) whether the Government proposes to develop cruise terminals at non- major ports to attract international cruise liners to operate along the country’s coastline; and 

(b) if so, the details thereof, including the ports that have been identified for this initiative?


ANSWER

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF SHIPPING (SHRI PON. RADHAKRISHNAN) 

(a)&(b):Cruise Terminals are developed in Cochin, Chennai and Marmugao Ports which are major orts under the jurisdiction of Government of India. The Ministry of Tourism is providing financial assistance for development of Cruise Tourism related infrastructure to port authorities based on project proposals and subject to availability of funds. As per the Section 3 (9) of Indian Ports Act, 1908, the respective State Governments have overall jurisdiction on non-major ports and are responsible for their development.
