AYURVEDA,YOGA & NATUROPATHY,UNANI,SIDDHA AND HOMEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:-


Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state: 

(a) whether the Government is aware that there has been a steady decline in the number of tourists visiting the State of Kerala for ayurvedic treatment during the last three years and the current year; 

(b) if so, the details thereof and the corrective steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard; 

(c) whether the Government proposes to set up ayurvedic clinical research centre in Kerala for traditional systems of healing, if so, the details thereof; and 

(d) the other steps taken/being taken by the Government to facilitate the tourists visiting the country for ayurvedic treatment?


ANSWER
(a) & (b): Government of India does not maintain the data of the tourists visiting the State of Kerala for Ayurvedic treatment.

(c): Under Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) an autonomous organization of Government of India the following two Ayurvedic clinical research centres are presently functioning in the State of Kerala.

1. Ayurveda Research Institute for Mother and Child Healthcare, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram 

2. National Research Institute of Panchakarma, Cheruthuruthy, Thrissur District.

At present, there is no proposal under consideration for setting up of additional ayurvedic clinical research centre in Kerala for traditional systems of healing.

(d): Government of India is implementing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) for promotion of AYUSH systems of medicines including Ayurveda under which grant-in-aid is provided to the State/UT Governments which inter-alia makes provision for the upgradation of the existing AYUSH Hospitals and Dispensaries so that patients including the tourists visiting the country can avail treatment from these hospitals and dispensaries.
