TRIBAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:-


(a) the total number of tribals who have been affected and displaced by various developmental projects in the country, State/UT-wise during the last two years and the current year;
(b) the total number of tribals who have received adequate compensation and/or accordingly rehabilitated and resettled under the Right for Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, including the total amount given out as compensation, State/UT-wise and the measures taken for rehabilitation;
(c) whether the Government proposes to collaborate with the Department of Land Resources, for setting up a web portal to list the total land under tribal habitation along with its present market value, in order to ensure a fair and transparent mechanism for compensation and rehabilitation; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

STATEMENT IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) to (d) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. *301 BY DR. SHASHI THAROOR AND SHRIMATI KOTHAPALLI GEETHA REGARDING “REHABILITATION OF TRIBALS” FOR ANSWER ON 10.08.2015


(a) & (b): A National Monitoring Committee in the Department of Land Resources, constituted under Section 48 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (LARR Act) is mandated to review and monitor rehabilitation and resettlement of displaced and project affected people. However, number of Scheduled Tribes people displaced/project affected in irrigation/flood control projects as available in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is placed as Annexure.

(c): There is no such proposal to list the total land under tribal habitation or to publish present market value of such land.
(d): Does not arise In view of reply to part (c) above.
