ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE

(SHRI PRAKASH JAVADEKAR)

(a) As informed by the State Government of Kerala, there has been no increase in unnatural deaths of elephants residing in the National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in Kerala.

(b)&(c) Does not arise in view of the above.

(d)&(e) An alert has been issued to Chief Wildlife Wardens of all Elephant Range States to tighten surveillance in Protected Areas to minimize the poaching of elephants and smuggling of ivory.
