Will the Minister of



RAILWAYS be pleased to state:-


(a) whether the Government has successfully completed the pilot study for the introduction of the accrual accounting system in the Ajmer Division in the North Western Railway Zone (NWRZ);

(b) if so, the details thereof including the proposed time period for extending the comprehensive accrual accounting plan to all Railway Zones, including the Southern Railway Zone (SRZ);

(c) whether the Government has undertaken employee training programmes to equip employees of the Railways with the skill required for accounting under the accrual system; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? 


ANSWER

(SHRI MANOJ SINHA)

(a) & (b) The pilot study for introduction of accrual accounting on Ajmer Division of North Western Railway is nearing completion with its related reports and manuals. The time period for extending the plan to all Railway Zones including the Southern railway zone has not yet been finalized.

(c) Yes, Madam. Training on various aspects of accrual accounting is being imparted to railway officials and staff at Centralized Training Academy for Railway Accounts (C-TARA), Secunderabad under a structured training module.

(d) Each month Supervisors and Officers from all over Indian Railways are being regularly trained in accrual accounting.
