Development of Sabarimala under PRASAD

Will the Minister of



TOURISM be pleased to state:-


(a) whether Government proposes to include the Sabarimala and Guruvayur temples in the State of Kerala under the National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) and if so, the details thereof including the progress made so far in this regard; 
(b) whether the Government has prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and has conducted any consultations with the stakeholders including the State Government of Kerala to finalise the assistance that will be provided under the scheme; 
(c) if so, the details thereof along with the financial assistance provided or likely to be provided to improve the infrastructure and facilities in and around the temple area; and 
(d) whether the Government proposes to include the three important Ayyappa temples Achankovil, Kulathupuzha and Aryankavu that come under the Sabarimala Pilgrim Circuit in the development plan and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): Under PRASAD scheme 13 sites have been identified for development, namely Ajmer, Amritsar, Amaravati, Dwarka, Gaya, Kedarnath, Kamakhaya, Kanchipuram, Mathura, Patna, Puri, Varanasi and Velankanni. Identification of more destinations under the scheme is a continuous process, subject to availability of resources and adherence to scheme guidelines.

Under Swadesh Darshan Scheme 13 Circuits have been identified for development including Spiritual Circuit. Central Financial Assistance for suitable project proposals is provided under the Scheme subject to availability of resources and adherence to scheme guidelines. The Ministry of Tourism has received a DPR for Rs.99.99 Crore for Development of Sabarimala Erumeli- Pampa- Sannidhanam as a Spiritual Circuit in Kerala under Swadesh Darshan Scheme. The project has been recommended for sanction by Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) of Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
