Strengthening Security of Sensitive Military Establishments

Will the Minister of



HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:-


(a) whether the Government has taken measures to strengthen the security of sensitive military and official sites in border areas;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs had recently stated that few terrorists were hiding in villages close to the Pathankot Air Base and there could be a possible fresh attack on the airbase;

(d) if so, the details thereof including the measures taken by the Ministry to strengthen the security of the Pathankot Air Base;

(e) whether the Ministry has handed over the security of the air base to the Border Security Force, the Central Reserve Police Force and the Army and if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): As per directions of the Government, the three Defence Services have carried out security audit of all their military establishments. However, further details in the matter cannot be disclosed in the interest of national security.

(c) : No such report has been received.

(d) & (e) : Security of Air Force Base is looked after by the Force itself from its own resources. Special and trained air warriors are available to maintain optimum level of security. Security of Air Bases has not been handed over to Army or any Central Police Organizations. However, security of a few sensitive Air Bases located in Jammu & Kashmir has been augmented with the Border Security Force (BSF).
